Banu Çolak

Banu Colak (1978, Ankara/Turkey) received a PhD in Fine Arts from Hacettepe University, Ankara, TR. She completed a short program in Art Theory at Central Saint Martin’s, London, UK. Banu Colak is an Assistant Professor of Visual Arts in the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University, Abu Dhabi. U E A . Banu Colak uses various media, including painting, photography, video and installation to explore our relationship with the physical space we in habit. She explores how we define landscapes by looking at the relationship between the constant ‘underneath’ and the changing surface. Landscape exist as home/abroad, paradise/hell, eden/nod. Her works are based on the manual transformation and manipulation ofphotographic images. The images are no longer static but fragmented and ephemeral like the natural dynamic structure of the landscapes and changing realities and on it.
